Doing it right takes a little bit more time than 90 seconds, but if you have the time, you can create powerful images that can go directly to the web or can be embedded. The app allows users to embed video, photo or outside links into an existing photo. I love ThingLink, since it lets me build interactive graphics right from the field. ThingLink – This one is my all-time champ. Here’s an example from KOMU, used in the local NBC station’s Friday night football coverage. You have the ability to share and it will also create a link to StoryByte’s servers. It’s pretty straightforward: Select the photos, type in captions, select the sequence of the photos, upload. DIPTIC CIRCLE FRAME FREEStoryByte’s a free way to replicate that from your Camera Roll in the field. StoryByte – Online slideshows build viewership. Note: It’s been kind of crashy lately, but Sanganeria is working to rebuild it. The developer, Mayank Sanganeria, worked with a number of mobile journalists to mold the product to their specifications. The first iteration only allowed photos to be integrated with sound gathered at that moment. JamSnap allows you to take sound in your phone or iPad’s library and then create interactive dots on the photos so your viewers can hear the sounds. You’re already gathering the sound anyway and you’re taking the photos. JamSnap – This app allows you to create interactive sound points on a photo. You can write a full, contextual caption and incorporate it below the photo, then use your 140 characters to promote what’s in the photo. The biggest advantage here is that it helps you circumvent the 140-character limit on Twitter. You can output to the Camera Roll or to social outlets. Type A– This is an obscure app (seriously, it’s almost impossible to find in the App Store unless you also search on the developer’s name: Adrian Tirteu) that lets you add text to a photo and save it as a single photo. It’s a building block, but a valuable one, since it lets you quickly create an image made up of images and then apply some of the more advanced features from JamSnap (see below) or StoryByte (also below). Diptic’s strength is in its simplicity and the fact that it saves to the Camera Roll, which allows every other image app to access it. ![]() It lets you build collages by selecting a template, tapping photos to go in there, reorganizing as needed and then publishing. If you save it to the Camera Roll, you can add some of the below apps to create a much more immersive chart.ĭiptic– Diptic’s a simple photo framing app. If you share it, it tweets as an image, which gets more views on Twitter. DIPTIC CIRCLE FRAME PROCovering a government meeting and have lots of stats? ChartMaker Pro allows you to build a bunch of different kind of graphs on the fly, then gives you the choice of sharing or saving the output to the Camera Roll. 360 allows the reader to scroll around in a “circle,” which is a bit more interactive and has a moderately larger “wow” factor.ĬhartMaker Pro – Nothing fancy here, just a good solid chart-making program. Unlike the iPhone’s ‘panoramic’ function in iOS 7, it doesn’t flatten the image into a long horizontal. This is an ideal app to gather color - a disaster scene, sidelines at a football game (as this one was by a reporter from KOMU-TV in Missouri). 360 Panorama lets you gather 360 degree images and quickly share them. These iOS apps allow reporters to take raw material and easily create fresh content in under 90 seconds and share it to the web.ģ60 Panorama– Easy-to-use photo stitching app. I call this “cotton candy content.” It’s light to produce and easy to distribute and sometimes gives readers a pleasant buzz. I found seven mobile apps that can help reporters quickly produce compelling photos, video clips and other visuals that draw readers in - and encourage them to come back for more. ![]() This creates a challenge: How do you generate content while still reporting? In the age of social media, reporters on the scene of a news story face increasing pressure to produce fast, compelling tweets and status updates for their publications. ![]()

![]() ![]() However, if you’re looking for the best possible performance from your brakes, you’ll want to use DOT 4 fluid. DOT 3 fluid is also relatively affordable, making it a good choice for riders on a budget. This fluid is designed for vehicles with disc brakes, and it provides a good balance of performance and durability. The most common type of brake fluid is DOT 3. So if you’re looking for better performance from your brakes, it’s worth doing some research to find out which type of lube is right for your bike. After all, does it matter as long as it stops your bike when you need it to?Īs it turns out, there are different types of brake fluid, and each has its advantages and disadvantages. BRAKE FLUID MANUALIf you’re unsure whether your Harley uses DOT 5 fluid, check your owner’s manual or ask a dealer or service professional. This makes it ideal for high-performance applications where braking temperatures can be very high. While DOT 5 fluid is not required for all Harleys, it can benefit those who ride in hot weather or do a lot of stop-and-go riding. Harleys are one of the few motorcycles that can use this type of brake fluid. DOT 5 fluid can withstand higher temperatures without vaporizing. ![]() Do All Harleys Use DOT 5 Brake Fluid?Īll older Harleys from ’76 to ’05 used to require DOT 5 brake fluid. However, you have to be careful with this type of fluid because you cannot mix it with other types, it is not glycol based.ĭOT 5 brake fluid is a synthetic brake fluid designed for use in vehicles that require higher boiling points than DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids. If you use DOT 4 fluid in your Harley, check your brakes frequently and bleed them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. In addition, DOT 4 fluid is more corrosive than other fluids and may damage your brake system over time. DOT 4 fluid has a greater boiling point than the fluids typically used in Harley brakes, so it may not provide adequate protection against brake fade. You can use DOT 4 brake fluid in a Harley, but it’s not recommended. DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid also has a higher moisture tolerance than other fluids, meaning it can withstand exposure to moisture without degrading. This helps to improve braking performance in extreme conditions. This type of fluid provides superior performance in terms of both boiling point and freezing point The recommended brake fluid for current Harley-Davidson brakes is DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid. Harley-Davidson motorcycles require a specific type of brake fluid to ensure optimal performance and safety. What Type Of Brake Fluid Does Harley Use? So what is the truth? Let’s look at the different brake fluids and determine which one Harley Davidson uses. Some people say they use DOT 3 brake fluid, while others use DOT 4.
